Sompo Asia Pacific has appointed Kelvin Woo as chief distribution officer for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, effective 11 May 2026, the company announced on Monday.

Based in Hong Kong, Woo joins from QBE Asia, where he has worked for nearly five years, most recently as head of corporate underwriting for Hong Kong and Macau. He brings over three decades of industry experience, spanning underwriting, portfolio management and distribution. He previously held senior underwriting and leadership roles at firms such as Generali, AIG and AXA.

In his new position, he reports to Sompo Hong Kong chief executive Alasdair Walker.

“Kelvin will be responsible for shaping and executing our sales, client, and distribution strategy, working closely across Commercial, Consumer and all support functions to strengthen our market position and develop the business as a regional hub,” the company said in its announcement.

The appointment adds to a run of senior Sompo moves announced this year, including Beatrice Morley as head of the London reinsurance team, and Daniel Lukas as head of personal lines for APAC. Sompo APAC also confirmed five senior appointments to its APAC commercial team in the first quarter of 2026, including Olivia Clark as head of aviation.
