Manulife Malaysia has appointed Sook Yann Lee as chief partnership distribution officer, effective 28 July, the insurer has announced.

Lee brings over three decades of experience across distribution, bancassurance, sales leadership, customer segmentation, and strategic partnership management.

She joins from Prudential Assurance Malaysia, where she spent 10 years, most recently as senior director, partnership distribution.

“Throughout her career, she has successfully built strong partnerships, expanded distribution capabilities, launched customer-focused propositions, and led high-performing teams that delivered meaningful business growth,” Manulife said in its statement on LinkedIn.

The appointment adds to a series of distribution leadership changes across Manulife’s Asia business. Earlier today, Manulife Hong Kong and Macau promoted Carrie Tong to chief distribution officer, succeeding Ivan Chan.

The changes come amid strong performance in the region, with Manulife Asia generating US$585m of new business CSM, up 15%, while NBV rose 15% to US$533m in Q1. The insurer is also preparing its entry into India through the joint venture with Mahindra announced in June.
