Ocean Underwriting has appointed Lucy Tairi and Layla Williams to its liability team in Australia, with Tairi joining as a liability underwriter and Williams as an assistant underwriter, the firm announced on LinkedIn.
Based in Melbourne, Tairi joins after more than three years with Woodina Underwriting Agency, where she most recently served as a general liability underwriter. Before Woodina, she also worked at Brooklyn Underwriting and AXA XL.
Williams, based in Sydney, is joining Ocean Underwriting following a year-long stint as a paralegal at Australian law firm Lander & Rogers.
The appointments add to a broader expansion of Ocean Underwriting’s underwriting team this year. In March, the MGA added six team members across its property, financial lines and liability businesses in Sydney and Melbourne.
The expansion followed the launch in February of a Lloyd’s-backed complex risks liability facility designed for complex or hard-to-place liability risks that fall outside standard liability policies.
