Aviso Specialty has appointed Thomas Delaney as head of corporate, the Australian broker announced on Monday.

Delaney joins Aviso after spending ten years at Marsh, most recently serving as managing director – head of commercial. He also worked at Planned Cover earlier in his career.

Based in Melbourne, Delaney will lead the continued growth of Aviso’s corporate business across the country, focusing on the middle market and building corporate’s role in connecting clients with specialist capabilities across the business.

“He brings extensive leadership experience across Australia and New Zealand, strong market relationships and a track record of building and growing national businesses”, Aviso said in its announcement.

The appointment also follows a wider recruitment push at Aviso Specialty, which, in February, unveiled 21 appointments, including a string of senior hires from Lockton, as it expands its national capability.

The broker has also recently named Paul Smyth as head of financial lines with Shane Aitken as manager, and Kerin Rathgeber as trade credit practice leader.

Earlier in June, the firm launched a risk intelligence division, headed by Nicholas Martin. The unit is aimed at giving clients broader access to senior-led risk management advisory.
