AIG General Insurance Japan has appointed Keiichi Ishida as head of commercial property to lead the company’s next phase of growth, the insurer announced today (29 September).
Ishida joins from Everest Insurance, where he was head of Japan. He brings nearly 30 years’ (re)insurance experience—much of it in underwriting and assessing risk in energy, construction and commercial property—and has held leadership roles across Japan and wider Asia, having worked at Zurich, AIG, EQE International, HDI Global and Swiss Re.
In addition to his underwriting background, he has specialist expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), cartography and probabilistic risk analysis.
“Keiichi’s extensive experience and expertise in risk solutions will be a strong catalyst as AIG continues its next phase of growth,” said Yasu Sezaki, director and corporate officer at AIG Japan.
The appointment follows an interim period during which the commercial property leadership role was overseen internally by Sezaki.
Ishida’s arrival is the latest in a series of leadership appointments across AIG’s businesses in Japan and wider Asia. Earlier this year, AIG Japan appointed Koki Umeda as vice chairman, effective 1 July, succeeding Hirofumi Shimoyama, who transitioned to the role of senior advisor.
Elsewhere in the region, AIG appointed Lisa Sun as president of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, and chief executive of AIG Hong Kong in August, while promoting Pongprat Suwan to country head, trade credit for Thailand.
