AXA XL has appointed finance veteran Paul Gardner as underwriting manager for AXA XL’s political risk, credit and bond business in Asia, the company announced on Tuesday.
Based in Singapore, Gardner has been with the business for over two years, most recently as a senior underwriter for political risk, credit and bond.
He brings over 35 years of industry experience, spanning project finance, commodity finance, tax, leasing, export credit agencies, as well as advisory and workout solutions. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Westpac, Deutsche Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank of America, and Lloyds Bank.
Gardner’s appointment is the latest in a string of leadership moves by AXA XL in Asia. Last week, the insurer appointed Thomas Götting as chief client and distribution officer for APAC and Europe.
In September, AXA XL promoted Rob Elliott to underwriting manager for property and named Markus Posberg as chief underwriting officer for property, construction and energy across APAC and Europe.
