Manulife has promoted Andy Bruce to chief information officer for Asia, effective 1 October, the insurer announced on Thursday.
His promotion comes as Manulife seeks to strengthen its digital capabilities and expand the use of AI across its Asian operations.
“Andy is a proven technology leader with a strong track record of execution, innovation and talent development,” said Steve Finch, president and chief executive of Manulife Asia.
“He combines deep knowledge of our business with the ability to turn strategy into meaningful outcomes. His leadership will be invaluable as we strengthen our digital capabilities, scale AI responsibly across our operations and create better experiences for customers and colleagues across Asia.”
Bruce has been with the life insurer since 2024, previously serving as chief information officer for Hong Kong and Macau. There, he led a technology portfolio spanning operational stability, risk management, modernisation and artificial intelligence initiatives.
Before joining the insurer, he worked at AIA, most recently as regional chief technology officer. He also previously held a technology leadership role at BHP Billiton in Singapore.
Bruce’s promotion follows other leadership appointments across the insurer’s Asian businesses. Manulife Philippines appointed Erica Jurilla Santos as chief operations officer and Ganesh Kumar Murugesan as chief information officer.
In Vietnam, the insurer also appointed Ankur Shah as chief agency officer.
