Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad has appointed Francesco Giannuzzi as chief financial officer, the general insurer announced on LinkedIn on Tuesday.

Giannuzzi has been with Generali since 2014, most recently serving as MedLat head of finance for the insurer in Milan, Italy. He also worked at KPMG Italy earlier in his career. He brings nearly 20 years of experience across international and regional finance teams.

“In his new role, Francesco will oversee the company’s financial strategy and operations”, Generali said on LinkedIn, adding that the appointment will support the Malaysian insurer’s continued growth.

The appointment comes as Asia becomes an increasingly important growth driver for Generali’s life insurance business. In August, Generali’s Asia new business value (NBV) for the life segment rose 147% to EUR503m (US$563m) in the first half of 2026, with the region accounting for about 27% of the group’s total life NBV.

Against this backdrop, Generali has continued to bolster its leadership ranks across Asia, with recent appointments including Tony Lin as chief executive officer of Generali Life Insurance Malaysia and Kai Ao as head of business development for Asia at Generali Global Corporate & Commercial.
