Pacific Life Re has appointed Kenichi Kim as Head of its South Korea business, the reinsurer announced in a media release on Monday.
He first joined the firm in 2022, tasked with expanding the protection lines of business in Pacific Life Re’s Asia markets. A year later, he was given additional responsibility for supporting the South Korea client solutions team.
In total, he brings over 15 years of financial services and reinsurance experience, gained from working in major Asian financial hubs including Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Speaking on the appointment, Vasan Errakiah, Managing Director, Protection, Asia at Pacific Life Re, praised Kim’s readiness for the role, saying he “has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and achieved outstanding results in his previous roles,” and “has built a cohesive client solutions team.”
“We are confident that his experience and dedication will be key to driving and implementing our strategic growth in South Korea,” Errakiah added.
Pacific Life Re did not disclose who Kim succeeded, but the reinsurer announced in October 2023 that it had appointed Yoke Yin Lee as Head of South Korea.
This move comes over a month after Pacific Life Re appointed former global Chief Underwriting Officer Andrew Doran, who was based in Singapore for five years, to Chief Executive Officer of UnderwriteMe, its insurtech business.
