Allianz Fire and Marine Insurance Japan (Allianz Commercial Japan) has appointed Brian Jinzenji as President and Yuichiro Funabashi as Executive Vice President, the company announced in a media release on Friday.

Jinzenji succeeds Ken Motoda, who has stepped down from the company after 13 years. His appointment is effective as of today, 1 August, while Funabashi assumed his role on 25 July. Both are serving as Representative Directors for the business.

Jinzenji brings more than 30 years of industry experience, having held senior positions at AXA, AIG, and Taisei Fire and Marine Insurance. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Munich Re for Japan, where he helped the business regain leadership in the property and casualty reinsurance market.

Joining Jinzenji is Funabashi, who concurrently serves as Director and Division Manager of the Underwriting Division and General Manager of the Financial Lines Department at Allianz Commercial Japan.

Funabashi has been with the firm since 2018. For his new post, he will work closely with Jinzenji in creating strategic growth plans for the business.

The announcement follows other leadership appointments by Allianz Commercial in APAC in the past two months, including Alex Shi, who was named the Regional Head of Liability in Asia, and Nagalaxmi Shetty as Chief Compliance Officer for its India operations back in June.
