Aon has appointed Taranjeet Walia as senior client director, commercial risk solutions & growth, India, the global broker announced on Thursday.

Based in Mumbai, Walia will work with large corporates and financial institutions, advising them on integrated risk, capital and strategic solutions.

He joins Aon with more than 20 years of experience across trade finance, working capital, supply chain finance and structured finance in India and international markets. His expertise includes strategic finance, capital solutions, risk mitigation, business transformation and digital innovation.

Walia joins from Barclays, where he served as director and head of trade & working capital, India. Before Barclays, he had a brief stint at First Abu Dhabi Bank. Earlier, he spent eight years at BNP Paribas in a series of senior leadership roles. He has also held senior positions at HSBC and Citi.

The appointment follows a series of leadership changes at Aon India after the broker integrated its commercial risk, health and reinsurance businesses under Aon Risk Insurance Brokers India Private Limited in August 2025.

Following the amalgamation, Aon expanded its leadership team by appointing Prasanna Kumar as regional head of commercial risk sales; Manoj Kumar as head of sales and growth for commercial risk and health solutions; Nitish Tiwari as deputy vice president of India Global Solutions; Harpreet Sidhu as head of the financial services & professions group in India; and Sushant Sarin as Managing Director for Aon India and head of strategy and commercial.

India remains a key market for Aon, with global capability centres in Bengaluru, Noida and Gurgaon supporting international operations, alongside client-facing offices across 17 cities. The broker recently expanded its Bengaluru capability centre.
