Arch Insurance Australia (Arch) has named Carey Sturgiss as Southern Region professional indemnity (PI) underwriting manager, effective immediately.

Sturgiss first joined Arch in 2025 as a senior PI underwriter. She has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance market and has held underwriting roles at Chubb, CGU, Allianz, and QBE.

In her new role, Sturgiss oversees underwriting activities for the Southern Region PI portfolio, which includes Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia. She is based in Melbourne and reports to Aisling Hegarty, head of PI.

“Carey has quickly built strong relationships with brokers across the Southern Region, bringing valuable technical insight, an analytical approach and a deep understanding of the local market”, said Hegarty. “I am confident that Carey will continue to strengthen our relevance and presence in the southern region and support the ongoing growth of Arch’s PI business across Australia.”

Sturgiss’s appointment is the latest in a series by Arch Australia this year, including the promotion of Hegarty herself to head of professional indemnity and the appointments of Brendon Terry and Jarrod O’Connor as regional branch managers.
