Gallagher Australia has appointed industry veteran John Mutton as managing director of its affinity division, commencing in early 2027, the broker announced on Wednesday.
Mutton brings more than 35 years of insurance and broking experience and will lead the company’s affinity division while serving on the Australia executive committee, Gallagher said on LinkedIn. The division develops and manages insurance programmes for associations, member organisations and other affinity groups.
Before joining Gallagher, Mutton was with the Community Broker Network for two years, most recently serving as chief commercial officer. He previously held leadership positions at Marsh, Austbrokers Corporate, Holder Insurance Brokers (now part of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.) and NZI Insurance.
Speaking on the appointment, Gallagher Australia CEO Alex Lumby said, “He brings a wealth of experience, a great reputation in the market and a leadership style that’s a strong fit for our business and culture.”
Lumby added that Mutton joins as the company continues to invest in growth opportunities and broaden its capabilities across Australia.
The appointment follows a broader build-out of Gallagher’s Australian business. In June, the broker expanded its Queensland corporate broking team with the appointments of Joshua Heron, Sarah Alexander and Michael Hambleton, who joined its Brisbane office from Aon.
Gallagher also named Charlotte Jolly practice leader for its faith specialty business and appointed Blake Gleeson to the newly created role of chief client officer.
