The Insurance Council of New Zealand – Te Kāhui Inihua o Aotearoa (ICNZ) and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) have opened applications for the ICNZ Scholarship 2023, with this year’s theme centred around Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the industry.
The scholarship aims to identify and nurture candidates with the potential to become future leaders in the industry. The winner will be awarded NZ$10,000 to use toward an international conference or seminar focused which focuses on leadership and industry development.
To be eligible, applicants need to submit a 2,500-word essay discussing the capabilities and implications of generative AI applications. The specific topic is: “The capability of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications like ChatGPT to create text, auditory and visual content given prompts and existing data suggests potential applications to many sectors including for general insurance and its value chain. Discuss the benefits and risks for insurers of using this technology to recommend whether to adopt it, and, if so, how, or if not, why not?”
Tim Grafton, ICNZ Chief Executive, expressed the commitment of both organizations to fostering the growth of the next generation of industry leaders. “ICNZ and ANZIIF are committed to investing in people and building the next generation of future industry leaders.”
Prue Willsford, CEO of ANZIIF, encourages all eligible professionals to take advantage of this opportunity. “This scholarship has opened many doors of opportunity for previous winners, significantly contributing to their professional development, leadership skills, and industry networks.”
Applications are open until 6 November 2023. Additional information on eligibility and the application process can be found on the Scholarship webpage.
