Manulife has strengthened its artificial intelligence (AI) leadership in Hong Kong with the appointment Hongjuan Liu as chief AI and data officer for Hong Kong and Macau and posting of Mark Czajkowski, chief AI officer for Asia, to Hong Kong, the company announced on LinkedIn on Monday.

Liu moves after more than three years at McDonald’s China, where he was most recently vice president of data. He brings more than 20 years of experience across multiple industries and geographies specialising in AI, data strategy, analytics, and digital transformation. He held prior stints at Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Aegon, Ageas, and Allianz Business Services.

In his new role, he will report directly to Manulife Hong Kong and Macau CEO Patrick Graham and lead the cross‑functional AI & data team across Hong Kong and Macau, overseeing the development and execution of advanced analytics, AI deployment initiatives, and data platform strategies, while ensuring strong governance and operational excellence.

Liu will also have a functional reporting line to Czajkowski, who has relocated from Singapore to Hong Kong to further enhance Manulife’s AI regional leadership.

Prior to his current role, Czajkowski served as Manulife’s chief analytics officer for Asia and chief marketing officer for Singapore. He has more than 20 years of wide‑ranging experience spanning marketing, analytics, and AI‑centric strategy, including time at Precision Marketing Asia-Pacific, Macquarie Bank, and IBM Australia. He plays a pivotal role in shaping Manulife Asia’s AI agenda, strengthening data‑driven decision‑making, and driving innovation to accelerate business growth across the region’s diverse markets.

“Hongjuan brings exceptional AI and data expertise to our organisation, and his leadership will be key to continuing to advance our AI strategy and delivering greater value for our customers and distribution partners,” Graham commented. “Mark’s posting to Hong Kong further underscores our resolve to scale AI innovation and propels our ambition to establish the city as a regional hub.”

The moves build on the momentum following the successful re-domiciliation of Manulife (International) Limited and reflect its continued focus on AI and data, with the business launching a Singapore Centre of Excellence in late 2025 that is working with local universities to build practical AI skills. They also follow Manulife Hong Kong and Macau’s appointment of Wilton Kee as deputy chief executive officer earlier this month.

Stay ahead on the region’s key appointments.
