Pankaj Banerjee has returned to Prudential to take on the role of Group Chief Agency Officer effective 30 September 2024, the company announced in a media release on Monday.
Banerjee has over 24 years of insurance management experience and moves to Prudential from Manulife, where he has been serving as Chief Distribution Officer.
He returns to the company he served from 2007 to 2016, when he held roles including Chief Executive Officer for Cambodia and Chief Partnership and Distribution Officer for Vietnam.
In his new role as Group Chief Agency Officer, Banerjee will lead Prudential’s technology-powered distribution strategy with a focus on agency, the company said.
He will be based in Prudential Group’s Hong Kong head office, collaborating with teams across Asian and African markets while reporting to Lilian Ng, Managing Director, Strategic Business Group.

Managing Director, Strategic Business GroupBanerjee’s appointment aligns with Prudential’s strategy, announced in August 2023, which aims for quality agency growth. The group has set a goal to increase agency new business profit by 2.5 to 3 times from the 2022 level by 2027.

In addition to his time at Prudential and Manulife, Banerjee’s previous roles include senior positions with ICICI Prudential in India, CEO for AIA in Sri Lanka, and CEO of Partnership Distribution at AIA Group.
