Susan Looi has taken her extensive experience in risk management and actuarial to become the Chief Risk Officer at AIA Australia, the business announced on Thursday, 17 July.

Before joining AIA, Looi spent 11 years at ANZ, most recently serving as General Manager, Enterprise Risk for the banking group.

She brings more than 25 years of industry experience, working across domestic and international financial services, from (re)insurance, superannuation, and strategy to actuarial, sales, and banking. Prior to ANZ, she worked at Reinsurance Group of America and Zurich.

Damian Mu, AIA’s Australia chief executive, stated Looi will play a “pivotal role” in safeguarding the firm’s risks and empowering her teams. “With her valued knowledge and expertise, Susan will provide critical support and leadership, as we pursue our vision for Australia to be the healthiest and best-protected nation in the world.”

In June, the AIA Group saw the return of Mark Tucker, who will serve as the chairman for the Hong Kong-headquartered insurer, succeeding Edmund Sze-Wing Tse. Earlier in May, its New Zealand business also named Hannah Anderson as Head of Retail Distribution and Ben McQuay as Head of Corporate Solutions.
