Allianz Australia has appointed Alison Smith as general manager of distribution, effective January 2027, the company announced on Tuesday.
Based in Melbourne, Smith will join Allianz after an almost 23-year stint at Aon, where she currently serves as head of national. Earlier in her career, she also worked at Zurich Insurance and Markey Insurance Brokers.
Smith brings more than 25 years’ experience across insurance broking, underwriting and distribution in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
“She has a strong track record of delivering growth, strengthening client relationships and developing products and channels that respond to the needs of brokers and customers,” Allianz said on LinkedIn.
The appointment is the latest in a series of leadership changes across Allianz’s Asia-Pacific operations.
Earlier this month, Allianz Commercial Japan appointed industry veteran Katsuya Kobayashi as head of marine. In September, the group named Steve Williams head of liability underwriting in Australia.
Meanwhile, Allianz Trade appointed Daf Owen to the newly created role of regional surety business development director for Asia Pacific, effective 1 August 2026.
