Allianz Trade in Asia Pacific has appointed Scott Munafò as chief executive officer for China, effective 1 September, the insurer announced on Thursday.
Munafò will be based in Shanghai and steps into the role after more than a decade with Allianz Trade.
He joined the company in 2015 as part of its multinationals team and has since held a series of commercial and key account management roles across the Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific and Northern Europe. He was appointed regional account director for Northern Europe in 2021 before taking on the role of group head of broker management and partnerships in 2025.
Rodrigo Jimenez, regional CEO of Allianz Trade in Asia Pacific, said Munafò’s experience across multiple markets made him well placed to lead the insurer’s China business.
Munafò’s appointment comes as Allianz Trade refreshes its leadership team in China and across Asia-Pacific.
In April, the trade and credit insurer appointed Tian “Bruce” Lan as commercial director for China. Earlier this year, it also promoted Sandy Liu to regional head of the China Desk.
Appointments have also continued in recent months. In July, Allianz Trade appointed Daf Owen to the newly created role of regional surety business development director for Asia-Pacific, while Ricky Hung joined the Hong Kong business as head of distribution.
