Willis has tapped Azad Kumar as its Growth Leader of Energy, Construction, and Marine for India, the business announced on Monday, 4 August.

Kumar joins from UIIB Insurance Brokers, where he spent nearly seven years, serving as Head of Energy. He brings 26 years of experience to the role, having previously worked at companies such as Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Aon India across offshore construction, energy and industrial projects, oil and gas infrastructure, and large-scale engineering ventures.

At Willis, Kumar is expected to play a key role in shaping the firm’s specialisation strategy while supporting clients across energy, construction, and marine lines.

Vivek Nath, Head of India at WTW, stated that Kumar’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the business. “We are confident that his unique combination of global broking experience and India-specific execution capabilities will help us drive the growth of our businesses across Energy, Construction and Marine in India. These are core industry verticals that align with our national priorities.”

Kumar is the latest addition to Willis India’s team, following the appointments of Amarpal Singh as North Leader & Cyber Leader within its FINEX business, Arushi Arora as the new Head of Claims for FINEX India, and Ramya Nataraj as FINEX Leader for South India. In July, the company also named Mark Thompson as Director for Regional Construction for Asia.
